Timber Floor Maintenance Services and Advice

Timberoo timber flooring specialists has been operating since 2006, servicing both commercial and residential clients from Caboolture in the Moreton Bay region, up to Rainbow Beach in the Gympie region.  We specialise in unique coatings catered towards design criteria to restore solid timber flooring to its original state and offer a superior finish at competitive prices. A wide-range of timber floor finishes are available to choose from.

We only use coating concentrated cleaning products as other products will adversely affect the floor coating.

With carpentry backgrounds and over 20 years of combined experience in all things wooden flooring, our team have the know-how and expertise to provide unparalleled timber floor maintenance services including sanding and re-coating to restore and rejuvenate your timber flooring to as-new standards.

Just as the various timber flooring types vary in colour and hardness, so too do the finishes and coatings that can be used on them. For example, solvent-based polyurethane is a different looking and wearing finish compared to an oil finish. Suitable cleaning products also differ quite a bit.

Basically, the right cleaning method for your timber floor will depend on the type of timber and coating used. One cleaning product and method does not suit all timber floors, but the one thing timber floors all have in common is that they all greatly benefit from regular cleaning. Just make sure you use the right cleaning products and method.

What to Consider when Cleaning Timber Floors

5 Timber Flooring Maintenance Tips for Home Owners

1. Adding rugs and mats at door entrances and under furniture will help protect your timber flooring.

2. Filtering sunlight through UV tinted windows, curtains or blinds provides a great way to slow down the colour change process. This is also effective in controlling the gap width between, and possible cupping, of the floor boards.

3. Steam cleaning is not appropriate for timber floors. For regular cleaning an anti-static mop provides an effective means of collecting dust and dirt. If you use a vacuum cleaner the condition of the brushes should be regularly checked to ensure they are not leaving scratch marks.

4. How often you should clean your wooden floor depends on various factors such as how much dirt accumulates, the types of mats used, level of foot traffic and footwear used, whether any food/drink spills have left stains, or if scuff marks have developed.

5. On a weekly basis floors can benefit from damp mopping. This provides an effective deep clean and should be done with a neutral pH wood floor cleaner or product recommended by the timber floor finish manufacturer.
